About Us

Our History

Mississauga School of Music (MSoM) started from humble beginnings. In 1988 Jenny Goh, a piano instructor for well over 30 years, realized her dream of opening a music school in Mississauga. She wanted to raise the standard of Mississauga music lessons, and offer lessons taught by highly qualified, professional instructors with Music Degrees. Jenny set out to form a music school, dedicated to providing high-level, performance-based training, that she had received at the prestigious Shanghai Conservatory.

Recognition As Mississauga's Top Music School

Through the inspiration and dedication of teachers, students and parents, Mississauga School of Music is a six-time winner of the #1 Music School category by Readers' Choice (Mississauga News). We are also honoured to be a five-time winner of the Consumer Choice Award. Our achievements are a result of offering one-on-one, comprehensive music lessons based on the Royal Conservatory of Music curriculum, to the community of Mississauga, and surrounding areas of Oakville, Brampton and Milton for over 35 years.

We are proud of our students' achievements which have been showcased at multiple music festivals:

  • Kiwanis Music Festival

  • Peel Music Festival

  • Milton Music Festival

  • York Region Music Celebration

  • Rotary Burlington Music Festival

  • Davenport Festival of Music

  • North York Music Festival

  • Unionville Music Competition

  • Pickering Music Festival

  • OMFA Provincials

  • Odin International Music Competition

  • Crescendo International Music Competition

Our students have excelled at these music festivals resulting in Provincial Winners, Provincial Finalists, Platinum or Gold Medalists, and music scholarships.

Our Values

Quality Over Quantity is Our Motto

Our music school places a premium on the quality of teaching over the quantity of music teachers which keeps the number of music teachers small and ensures that the quality of teaching remains exceptionally high.

Our music teachers have a diverse range of experience in music education, teaching and performance. They are essential to ensuring that students have a solid foundation when learning to play an instrument. This will prevent having to unlearn bad habits and will accelerate their progress in the long run.

Helping Students Reach Their Full Potential

Helping students reach their full potential is key to our success. This is most notable in our students' Top RCM Exam Scores in Ontario and Canada, including coveted National RCM Gold Medals and Provincial RCM Gold Medals (awarded to students with the Highest RCM Exam Scores in Canada and Ontario). Students at Mississauga School of Music have won National and Regional RCM Gold Medals in Piano, Guitar, Flute and Violin.

Music Appreciation

Most importantly, we do our best to nurture a love for music in our aspiring musicians. Many former students choose to study music at the academic level and receive admission to universities across the country.
